Michelle ThompsonIn a recent interview, former President Donald Trump stated he might consider nominating JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon as Treasury Secretary. However, on Tuesday, he claimed he didn’t know who made that statement or where it originated.
In an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek earlier this month, Trump expressed his respect for Jamie Dimon and, when asked if Dimon could be a future Treasury Secretary, replied, “He is somebody that I would consider, sure.” This was according to a transcript posted by Bloomberg.
On Tuesday, Trump posted on Truth Social, “I don’t know who said it, or where it came from, perhaps the Radical Left, but I never discussed, or thought of, Jamie Dimon or Larry Fink for Secretary of the Treasury.” Trump did not mention Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, in the Bloomberg interview.
Trump’s recent comments about Dimon mark a significant shift from his previous stance. Last November, Trump criticized Dimon as a “Highly overrated Globalist” on Truth Social after Dimon praised Nikki Haley, who was then still a GOP presidential primary candidate. However, Dimon later acknowledged that Trump was correct on key issues and warned that criticizing Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement could harm President Joe Biden.
