According to figures from Eurostat, both rates were below 5% in September.
According to data released by Eurostat on Wednesday, annual inflation in the EU and euro area fell to 4.9% and 5.9%, respectively, in September from 5.2% and 5.9% in August.
According to the 27-member bloc’s statistical agency, the annual rates were 9.9% for the eurozone and 10.9% for the EU a year earlier.
The Netherlands (-0.3%), Denmark (0.6%), and Belgium (0.7%) had the lowest annual inflation rates, whereas Hungary (12.2%), Romania (9.2%), and Slovakia (9.0%) had the highest annual rates.
“Compared with August, annual inflation fell in twenty-one Member States, remained stable in one and rose in five,” it continued.
With 2.05 percentage points, services contributed the most to the eurozone’s annual inflation rate in September, followed by food, drink, and cigarettes with 1.78 percentage points.
