The Lenus COPD app enables patients to monitor their symptoms and communicate directly with NHS clinics. Since its introduction in March 2023, the system has reduced hospital readmissions by 40%. The Humber Health Partnership now hopes AI can further cut hospital visits, potentially by up to 90%, by analyzing patient data to detect trends and triggers requiring intervention.
According to Professor Mike Crooks, the app prompts patients to report their well-being, enabling early intervention and care before hospital treatment becomes necessary.
For patients like Ruth, diagnosed with COPD at 14, the app has nearly eliminated hospital visits, offering a reliable way to contact clinicians when needed.
