Amazon joined the Dow Jones Industrial Average on Monday

The Dow has only 30 businesses; Amazon replaces Walgreens Boots Alliance in the blue-chip index.

Amazon.com Inc. joined the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) on Monday, becoming a blue-chip stock.

At 9.59 a.m. EDT, the e-commerce and technology firm’s stock price had fallen 0.12% to $174.78 per share.

Amazon replaced Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. on the DJIA.

The Dow contains only 30 businesses and is weighted by individual stock prices rather than total market values.

Amazon’s market worth is around $1.8 trillion.
