A US company recalls 13 tons of chicken nuggets after metal fragments were discovered

A US food firm is recalling 13.5 tons of chicken nuggets looking like dinosaurs after consumers discovered metal fragments in the item.

It is reported that one person in the US experienced a minor mouth injury as a result of consuming Fun Nuggets.

“A small number of consumers have reported finding small, pliable metal pieces in the product,” according to Tyson Foods, which also announced that it was recalling the 29,819 lb (13,500 kg) of nuggets “out of an abundance of caution.”

A single US plant produced the Fun Nuggets that are the subject of the recall, and they were distributed to retailers in nine US states, including California, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio. The “best if used by” date on them is September 4, 2024.

The issue was identified, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, when the business informed it of customer concerns alleging tiny metal fragments in the product.

“One reported minor oral injury has been linked to the consumption of this product,” the FSIS continued. A healthcare professional should be contacted by anyone who is worried about an illness or injury.

Food authorities expressed concern that some of the nuggets might be in consumers’ freezers and advised anyone who had any of the products at home to either discard them or return them to the store where they were originally purchased.

Tyson has had to conduct product recalls for its beef products previously.

46 tonnes of raw ground beef products were recalled by the company in November 2022 after consumers discovered “reflective mirror-like material” in the meat. Early in2019, customers reported finding tiny fragments of soft, blue rubber inside some of the company’s chicken nuggets, prompting a recall of those products.

The US food company Kraft Heinz declared in September that it was recalling over 83,000 cases of Kraft Singles American processed cheese slices that were individually wrapped due to a potential choking danger caused by a piece of the wrapper sticking to the slice.

The American network of Trader Joe’s boutique grocery stores said earlier this year that it had recalled two of its own-brand cookie categories due to concerns about possible “rocks” in the dough, as reported by a supplier.
