According to Amazon.com Inc., it is getting ready to hire over 6,000 people across Canada.
The e-commerce behemoth based in Seattle claims that the new workers will fill full-time, seasonal, and part-time positions.
They will perform tasks like picking, packing, sorting, and shipping consumer purchases within Amazon’s operations network.
The hiring comes as Amazon invests more than $70 million in pay increases for fulfillment and transportation staff, whose average hourly compensation will increase to $21 from $17 in 2018.
Hourly full- and part-time workers will receive pay increases under the new compensation structure once every six months up until their 24-month mark and once more at their 36-month mark.
