According to official figures issued on Friday, Germany’s annual consumer inflation rate was confirmed to have dropped to 3.2% in November, the lowest level since June 2021.
According to Destatis data, the percentage decreased from 3.8% in October due to a deceleration in food inflation and a further decline in energy costs.
According to Ruth Brand, the chief of the statistics department, the rate of inflation decreased for the fifth straight month.
Due to a base effect, the price of energy products fell 4.5% in November compared to the same month last year, accelerating a 3.2% fall in October.
November’s 5.5% annual increase in food prices came at a nearly two-year low, decelerating from October’s 6.1% increase.
With food and energy excluded, core inflation dropped to 3.8%, the lowest level since August 2022.
Consumer prices decreased by 0.4% on a monthly basis in November, following a flat October.
