Israel approves an extraordinary expansion budget to fund Gaza war requirements

Estimated spending for Annex is $8 billion.

On Tuesday, the Israeli government approved an extra budget estimated to be worth $8 billion, which was deemed unprecedented and would pay for the attack against Gaza.

According to the Israeli state broadcaster KAN, the costs of funding the war through the end of the year will be met by the new annex budget of 30 billion Israeli shekels.

In addition to Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, KAN claimed that Benny Gantz, a member of Israel’s War Cabinet Council, was against the budget.

The annex fund, according to Netanyahu’s spokeswoman Ofir Gendelman, would pay for both the military’s requirements and the expenses incurred in tending to the families of Israelis who have been murdered or maimed as well as those whose loved ones are being held captive in Gaza.

The Israeli war against Gaza is expected to have an impact on the Israeli economy, according to a number of sources from both inside and outside Israel in recent weeks.

Approximately 360,000 reservists were called back for duty as part of the Israeli military’s war measures, which increased Israel’s financial expenses.

Since October 7, Israel has also evacuated around a quarter of a million Israelis from the vicinity of Gaza and the northern districts close to its border with Lebanon. The government is paying for the Israelis to be placed in hotels and residences.
