Top EU official and the king of Jordan talk about Israel’s assault on Gaza

The final stop of Josep Borrell’s Middle East tour is Amman.

Israel’s offensive against Gaza was discussed on Monday between EU foreign policy leader Josep Borrell and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

According to a statement from the Jordanian Royal Court, King Abdullah and Borrell met in the country’s capital, Amman.

“The need to work intensively to stop the war on Gaza (and to) end the (Israeli) siege” that is in place on the Palestinian enclave was reportedly stressed by the Jordanian king.

Additionally, he emphasized how important it is “to ensure the delivery of food, medicine, water, and fuel” to the Gaza-based Palestinians.

King Abdullah reaffirmed that the two-state solution is the only option to end the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

According to the statement, Borrell emphasized Jordan’s critical role in laying the groundwork for a two-state solution that would provide a political framework for resolving the Palestinian issue.

Borrell visited Israel, Palestine, Bahrain, Qatar, and Amman as the fifth and last destination of his Middle East tour.

After the Palestinian organization Hamas carried out a cross-border attack on October 7, Israel has been attacking the Gaza Strip nonstop with both air and ground forces.

The number of those killed by the continuous Israeli attacks on the enclave since October 7 has increased to nearly 13,300, according to Gazan authorities on Monday.

The communications office of the administration in Gaza released a statement stating that 3,550 women and 5,600 children had died.

It further stated that there are 60 journalists, 22 members of civil defense rescue teams, and 201 medical personnel.

Israel’s ceaseless air and military assaults on the besieged enclave have also resulted in the destruction or damage of thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches.

Official data show that there have been about 1,200 deaths in Israel.
